Interesting past statements by Mr. Stelmach....(refreshing the memories of albertans everywhere)

I wish to help in informing the Alberta voters of statements/comments made by our faltering Premier, since the beginning of his dismal run in office. It was pretty easy finding the articles. It wasn't so obvious choosing the best because they were all priceless. I'm starting to be able to distinguish when Mr. Stelmach's speechwriter may have been on sick days/vacation, by the quality of the nonsense being said. The quotes below were all made by Eddy with complete article links. I wouldn't want anybody to think I would try to show Steady Eddy out of context. That wouldn't show integrity or honesty, now, would it? “The A and B Crews are working and the C Crew is at home until they change their attitude,” he said, during prepared remarks. (November 12, 2009) This statement by Eddy is what inspired my Nov. 12, 2009 post. And the various responses have been better than I could possibly imagine.) "People whisper in my ear," Stelmach told Maclean's in an interview this week, "and say, 'Ed, please don't change. We like your honesty, we like your integrity and, most of all, you're a very modest individual.' " ( March 3, 2008) Stelmach gives himself, cabinet hefty pay raise (May, 2008) I was furious when I knew this, in 2008. Most of those around me were unconcerned and wished I would just let it go. And I did. So forgive me when I wasn't so passionate about most of Alberta discovering this fact just now. What you doing when it happened, really??? So, move on. "...Mr. Speaker, you know what? I'm going to take the word of this nurse (Fritz) over any bus driver any doggone time." (Just FYI, sassylassy drove a school bus, too. So this one hurt, personally.) In 1999, Klein shifted Stelmach to the new Infrastructure portfolio, where he made traffic safety a priority, increasing fines for traffic offenses, sometimes by as much as 700%. He also briefly aroused controversy by proposing reversing the slow and fast lanes on provincial highways, on the grounds that this would equalize the rate at which the lanes broke down and therefore save on maintenance costs; nothing came of the proposal. He established a fund for capital projects, but has been criticized for not doing enough to address the deterioration of the province's infrastructure. (This website also provides a extensive quick glimpse at what Eddy's been up to since 1986. Definitively worth reading. I found it to be impartial yet quite complete. Well done.)I stress again, how these are only a few gems collected of Mr. Stelmach's speeches and unsolicited comments. I, personally, find the comic relief almost too much to bare yet simultaneously, experience red rages when I hear "Premier Stelmach" being mentioned. He was excellent as passing himself off as unassuming; having the ear of the people (didn't know it was "The Voices" lol); like G.W.B., Eddy complains or attacks situations he created or co-created back then when he was in charge of those very ministries of government. I think I may have stumbled upon an expandable subject, maybe even a venture for sassylassy. I share with the reader that I had a blast reading the contents for every article linked. It proved one of my easier posts to write. To those who reached the bottom, please leave any comments/rating, regarding this post or any other of my posts. Development of this particular post maybe a viable possibility....(na,na,na,naaaa.....lol).

The State of Our Province....

This was first posted in late 2009, on my first blog. It still applies to the State of our Province today, for the most part. Please read on...

Here's a useful website of information as our future continues to darken: http://www.premier.alberta.ca/ This is where you might find clues as to where our taxpayer money is really going. This site also allows us to view just how much time is spent on travel. It helps guide you through the sloppy back-talk of pipe dream promises and useless incomplete/misleading information. My opinions regarding this current government have not changed over the past 2 years, except in intensity. I was proud of this province: the landscape, the opportunities, the future. All those things are looking bleak. The landscape is disappearing under pest infestations and subdivisions by the hundreds. The opportunities once offered by our resources were taken away by rash, unfounded decisions made by a greedy government. (That's biting the hands that feed you.) Our once "Forge Ahead, Build, Invest, Expand" Future has been turned into foreclosures, repossessions, unemployment rates resembling the 1980s, company closures at an all time high. Where is the business generated by Steady Eddy's trips to Texas under the guise of a business development committee. Where's the work? Where are the investments into our province? In December 2007, I had a Letter to the Editor published in the Edmonton Journal. Although the original title was "Dear Mr.Stelmach ", it was printed as "Oilpatch workers pay the price". The results from this letter was personally rewarding. And my husband was employed with weeks after it was circulated. After reading it again, I found that is was a good way to remind Albertans how we ended up in such mayhem in the first place. Letter to Editor Dec. 2007 Edmonton Journal:"My husband has been a gas-well testing supervisor for 15 years. Since the royalty report disaster started in the summer, he has worked a total of 15 days. There will be no Christmas in our house this year, our fridge is empty and we're on our last loaf of bread today. We no longer have a health plan and our 12 year old son is Type I Diabetic. We also no longer have a personal vehicle to transport him to the Stollery Hospital for his appointments.Social Assistance helped us pay December's rent, but stressed this would be the only help we would receive. No further help will be given from any government office.I am now driving a taxi, available to work day or night, seven days a week. My own safety is of no concern to me as long as my son's health is maintained and my family is able to eat once or twice a day....Will Mr Stelmach help us keep a roof over our heads and the heat on this winter, or is he too busy counting his royalty money? The only thing that will save Alberta is for Mr. Ralph Klein to come out of retirement. That's my Christmas wish, and I don't think I'm alone."Steady Eddy is trying to use the current global economy as a smoke screen for all his government's abuse of power which started long before the economic collapse.Fortunately, my family is fairing well during these current hard times but we are one of the few families who are. Just change a few words with unwarranted pay raises and unnecessary trips abroad, etc. Eddy and his band of muppets are bleeding this province dry and we can only blame ourselves for putting him in the position to do it. This can change. And it must. Just my opinion.

"Sensitive Issues" To Be Reviewed...(And the S*%t Rolls On)

I actually started this post a few weeks ago but as I read through to delete it, it seemed to still ring true. As I continue to wait to the review of those raises, I shall do a little research of my own. Please read on... *** Premier Ed Stelmach has agreed to an independent review of the pay and benefits received by provincial politicians, while admitting he’s opening discussions on a “sensitive issue.” So just over 2 years after the factual payraises our incompetent leaders gave themselves, and 6 months after the general public even noticed, there is a request to review if these raises were warranted. I shall have to repost a previous blog referring to the above-stated pocket stuffing backroom antics. Of course, they don't deserve those exaggerated increases. And the actual pay scheme itself is dubious. Eddy clearly did not read his job description, or he just didn't understand it, period. Crockery was not listed as the main qualification. I do concede that his new P.R. spindoctor is definitively doing a fine job of not allowing daily blunders and insults from the Premier's office. Just weekly, so far. Did I read the headlines right in the business section? The Alberta Government is considering scraping "the Historical Royalty Scheme"? These good old boys are going to drive any sober and sain person to drink and a straight-jacket. The ridiculous turn-abouts, that this government is becoming famous for, are making me nauseous. And I'm not a fan of carnival rides, really. The "Apple Dumpling" Gang are not in office for the interest of any every-day Albertan. That is perfectly clear! These last few weeks of non-government, every other word is "Olympic this" "Olympic that". I've been to work every day since the games started, and I fail to see where the economic benefit is increasing the customer-base. I have seen this very same customer-base decrease steadily since the first time you were eronously put into office. Mr. Stelmach, you personally strain my belief that Karma will set the path of Nature by balance. What you put out to us Albertans should have you unconsious by now. It's against the laws of Nature that you are not yet personally suffering for your professional misconduct. I could only wish that you have Ms. Evans as your financial adviser. All your finances should dissappear within the year. Just like Alberta's did. (Or, did it?) Which brings us back to the payraise review. On the eve of the biggest global financial melt-down, 34% was illegally acquired by "our representatives" without asking their bosses. Most companies would considered that embezzelment. (I think that's the word.) The Premier's Office monthly budget postings on their website read like a page out of Grade 10 101 Accounting. Just enough information to make it look real but too general to be true. ***

There Just No End...

It's been a few weeks since I've had time to dedicate to Eddy and his crew. It's not that they've stopped plundering the Province. They smoothly avoided a review of their pay-raises by promptly bringing up a review of the Royalty Program. The reforms were implemented in 7 days. That itself was a miracle. NOT. Pretty easy considering it's almost a carbon-copy of the original Program. Very smooth indeed. Then the kids dying in the care and protection of the Alberta Government. Just like our finances were mishandled, so are the already fragile lives of our children. My stepdaughter was in foster-care. Although her experience seemed to have been O.K., the stories she brought with her were not so O.K. So I do believe this have been an ongoing problem that some ill-advised, less than empathetic adults have failed to monitor and reform to the best of their abilities and positions of power. Starting with our Premier. Eddy didn't deserve the position he was given. He just seemed like the only option at the time. And now we're paying for it dearly. Ms. Evans stated the Heritage Fund was of no importance to the taxpayers of Alberta, once she finished pilfering it for high-risk investments in a volatile market. By then, she had lost all that King Ralph had acquired. Then, just recently, Eddy makes mention of said Fund. Apparently, he would like to gloat that us Albertans should be proud of his government's accomplishment of not having touched the Heritage Fund during the economic downturn. Can't use what's not there, Eddy. He should of reminded us and himself that the Sustainability Fund has been used frequently. This a fund he created. A fund that we have no information about, where the funds come from and where the funds go. Most of the projects and grants being handed out by the government, supposedly created to stimulate the economy, have been useless, over-estimated/billed in costs, and contracted out to other provinces/countries. Still waiting for those work contracts from all the trips out-of-province/out-of-country by our Premier and his cronies. So as we enter another summer of drought, unemployment and personal financial disasters (repos, divorces, etc...), the Alberta Government would like to remind us all to spend more time vacationing in our beautiful Province. But please be aware that as recently as this past week, they announced the closure of more of our public parks and campgrounds. What The Hell?!*!#? Alberta wake up before we change our name to "New Texas".

Just saying...

Our golden (hint, hint) Premier is at it, again. He's starting to be consistent in making weekly statements of backtalk and whitewash. This week, it's the budget. Eddy's back at the market selling a bear skin, off a bear he has yet to kill. His government made bleak projections regarding our financial year-end as a Province. Then gave themselves, & Eddy, nice raises. And then took a meager pay cut to offset public disapproval of those raises. And within a few days, announces that, maybe, it was OK to get the raises because Alberta isn't going to be in as much debt as first thought. Eddy, you're killing us. (Personally, with laughter & fear). I don't think I'm assuming alot when I say that most of those who support the Stelmach government, as of late, are not the ones waiting to go back to work for companies barely making ends meet. What is our government's stimulus plan, currently? Last week, Mr. Stelmach, you talked about the "C group" not being educated/skilled enough to be employed. Did you think about this as you made cuts to education funding, in the prior months. Most Albertans didn't read the fine print, but sassylassy did. With those pay raises came an amendment stating that attending parliamentary meetings (listed as a job requirement for a politician, I do believe) would no longer be part of the salary paid, but would be compensated at a separate rate, above salary. I, commoner, still read this as part of a raise, plus, plus. Our finance minister is not help, either. Miss. Evans has managed to keep her position despite numerous unexplained errors in judgement and management of our province's finances. Last year's disastrous investing of The Heritage Fund can not be overlooked. Miss. Evans used the global economic collapse as the cause of the losses. As anybody familiar with accounting would know, putting everything in high risk is covered as a no-no in Accounting 101. An unforgivable mistake by a department who should have "education/skills" to know not to make such mistakes. This end of year is looking bleaker than last. For all Albertans, except those in office. I haven't really noticed any of them budgeting their family's next month of living, while trying to fit in Christmas, too. Anybody-else notice the tan on Eddy? Not bad for somebody with such an all consuming office job. Our Prime Minister is showing the stresses of his post, during these trying times. Not Steady Eddy. He doesn't even look worried about Alberta's current state. Why should he be worried. It's not like he's in it for life, right?

Groundhog Day - Alberta Style...

So the new budget is coming out. The new finance Minister is talking about it prior to it's release, just so we're clear. Therefore, any whining in the near future of office espionage or security breaches/leaks, let's remember who started it, the Finance Minister himself. We seem to be off to a fine start in the second round of "Squeeze Alberta(n)s 'til They Stop Screaming". "Everybody will have to live with a little less." in the same paragraph as "I'll have a new pair boots by the end of the year." Somehow, I sense that these necessary cuts endured by us Albertans will help pay for those new boots. And the only way you can prove you earned them is to not sound and proceed like your predecessor, Ms. I. Evans. It looks, sounds and smells the same. We shall see.... (flash to Feb 10, 2010)

It's the morning after, and I think I just woke up in my own version of "Groundhog Day" (although the original was much funnier). Alberta 2010 Deficit projected at $4.7B, and it still feels like
April 2009 - Evans projects $4.7B Deficit And the new minister sounds just like the old minister. Take from 'Peter' to give to 'Paul'. What kind of accounting is that. People pay good money every day for an expert to to tell them that their personal finances in shambles from following that very same poor accounting practice. It's doomed to fail, no matter how you try to spin it. Asking Albertans to understand that further debt wll be required  to pay down already massive loans is absurd, to put it mildly. I think this is further proof that the kind of position requires at least two years or more of actual accounting education as any certified accountant requires to do their job. Only makes sense, no?

This only solidifies what I've privately stated. Mr. Stelmach on changed everybody's posts because of promises made regarding everybody get their turn a big government-post pay-cheque and chance for their name to get on the Ministers' Pension Plan mailing list. I'm only writing what everybody is thinking. Now we just have to wait for the new Royalty Review Report (the three Rs, now that's funny). More backtracking from Eddie and his Cruisers (Scrubs - modern term). Only fitting that he end his mess the way he started it. By messing with Alberta's economic stability and future. This should be a very busy week for these little fingers.

Poor Steady Eddy.....(NOT!!!)

Steady Eddy got twittered. And he didn't like it. Somebody picked on the 'little guy' and it hurt his feelings. And his press secretary, Tom Olsen, doing his usual job of put his foot in his mouth. He really is not very good at his job. If he was, I wouldn't know how moronic both Mr. Olsen and Mr. Stelmach are. " That said, he (Steady Eddy) never resorts to the personal and is never pleased when others do" stated Mr. Olsen. Olsen seems to be have a temporary lapse of memory and it keeps occuring everytime somebody shows backbone towards our incompetent government.

Did Steady Eddy not directly insult Brian Mason? Yes, he did! Did Steady Eddy not directly insult our province's unemployed? Yes, he did! Steady Eddy and his puppet, Olsen, seems to live in their own world. They can't remember what each says from one day to the next and double talk when they make unfounded accusations towards others. Here's one for you, both. Steady Eddy and Olsen are boobs. Definition: a stupid person, fool, dunce. Is that clear enough for you both? Never trust the quiet one with the beady eyes. That describes Eddy, I do believe.

Where is the work from your trips to the States and the trip last Spring to Europe? Why were Steady Eddy and his crew paid more than once for those trips (budgets)? Where's the funding so the "C group" can get those jobs Eddy claims to be out there to fill? Not everybody is good at what they do, and Eddy is a the best example out there to prove it. Alberta is in it's worst shape ever! And it's nobody else fault but Eddy's. He's is charge, right? He's make the decisions, right? And he sucks at it, big time!

I do take some of the blame for not doing a better job to stop them from still being in power. I've learned from my mistake and won't let it happen again. This time around people are starting to pay attention to their lies, their whitewash, their covering up of facts and omitting crucial information that Albertans are in the right to know. Ms Evans is a prime candidate for falsifying documents and "cooking books". Maybe an investigation should be started there? We are talking billions unaccounted for in loses. It's unacceptable that Ms. Evans would quickly dismiss her shabby accounting skills as the fault of the world economy. She's failing at her job, end of story.
Let's make sure we as albertans don't make the same mistakes twice. Choosing another party will be the right choice. Even if it is an unknown. It really can't get any worse than it is now. Let's fix this error and vote for somebodyelse with actual skills. Somebody who has Alberta and its citizens as their main concerns, not their personal enriching of their retirement plan at the cost of those who pay their wages. ENOUGH!

Eddie's road home.... (Happy New Year!!!)

I had to take a step back, again. The overload of non-information and turn of events from right at home to the rest of the world, my mind and emotions were hard to keep under wrap. I needed to not lose my calm for the sake of my family and their festive season. I worked Dec. 24, 25 and 26. How about you, Steady Eddie? Where were you for Xmas? How many days did you get paid from our hard-earned money? And by the way, where are these millions in savings that we have? Shouldn't you be using it to make up the short-fall of the budget instead of making us give you more?

I think you should look into religion as your next career, Eddie. Most churches are financed by their parishioners. And the parishioners, too, become poorer and the churches, themselves, prosper. Eddie's government is corrupt. This is a fact I've stated since the 1st time a group of buffoons put our premier is his coveted post.

"He said a sign that things aren't so bad in Alberta is the fact that the population is still growing — by .44 per cent, or 16,300 people, from July to October. That, Stelmach said, sends a message of hope and prosperity." PLEASE READ LINKED ARTICLE. Eddie obviously took only the information useful to him, for his speech and forgot the actual context of the article. I've been taking those Albertans to their buses heading out of the province. Some are going back home, some are born & raised Albertans going to see if things aren't as rough elsewhere. So don't even try to put your opaque veil of deceit on dire numbers, Eddie. There's a flaw in your allusion of leadership. You keep putting your foot in your mouth. Next.

"And Stelmach says that although many Albertans may be personally hurting economically, the province has billions in savings to weather the effects of recession." Translation, Eddie isn't worried, personally, HE'S GOVERNMENT/PROVINCE. Eddie, where are the billions? Your accountant (Ms. Evans) has stated that the province is running a deficit. How can that be if the province has all that bling hidden away in the Batcave. Your team of spin-doctors and speechwriters need to spend more time surfing the net about feedback on you and less time spending their year-end bonuses.
I've surfed the net and it's pretty easy to find unflattering comments on Eddy and his band of merry thieves. They, also, seem to take from the story only what is useful to them. Gentlemen, " it's take from the rich and give to poor.", not "Rape the poor blind and run." It puts a smile on my pretty face, to read the growing comments from fellow Albertans, expressing their displeasure, dissatisfaction and disgust with our governing body. I think when the public starts referring to the Alberta government as a dictatorship, people are more than just slightly discontent. They're pretty close to revolting. I say this only because we have several periods in history that went the same way and ended badly. For the governing party, that is (ie: French Revolution).

Maybe, Eddie has his own words to translate what Mari-Antoinette really meant (if she really said, that is) when she stated "Let them eat cake." I would bet anything he would see that event as a prosperous time for France, no doubt.

I call forth all Albertans to make only 1 New Year's resolution, that Eddie and the rest of the useless bloodsuckers, including Ms. Evans been sent packing by March, 2010. It's do-able. Even sooner maybe, if enough people read this. My fingers are crossed.
